Drunk feeling 24/7

It all started in March 07 roughly, started feeling dizzy (drunk feeling 24/7, no need to go out with mates to drink, I felt drunk without drinking lol). My left hand started to go numb and my co-ordination to that hand was slacking. I went to my GP and he got some blood tests done and weighed me. He did say it may be down to your weight (23 stones 4 lbs) and cholesterol and smoking. From my blood tests he said it looks as if you smoke 40 a day which I don't doubt. After hearing that I took control of my life quit smoking (1 July 07) and started losing weight. I felt fine and nearly back to my normal self, I started a job as a labourer on a building site just to see if can cope, just a little test to myself. That all went fine, nearing the end of the year I started to lose sight in my left eye (which it lasted for several months but now has returned). It started to feel as if I was looking through a net curtain and every week another net curtain was being applied. Went to the opticians, got referred to hospital eye clinic then had an appointment for an MRI scan.

2008 I was diagnosed with MS. My first reaction when I got told was "Now I got an answer". I did see a program on TV (I think it was Doctors on ITV) where this bloke had same symptoms as me and then he was diagnosed with MS, so I was sort of prepared for it in a way.
I started Rebif 16 December 2008, I do feel better and symptoms are less compared to previous years. Don't get me wrong I do have small relapses but there minor that I don't really pick up on unless I focus on it. Start of the year my right eye started the net curtain thingy but that only lasted a month or so. I have had people stand by me through it all. It took mates of mine some time to believe me as they thought I was playing about. I got to know a very special lady called Janette, she has helped me through it big time, as my parents are Italian it's harder to explain to them what I have, but don't get me wrong my parents they are there for me and got an understanding of MS but Janette has been an angel on my shoulders, she has helped me through it all step by step from day 1 to now. Now we've been together for nearly 4 years and getting married next August.

MS to me isn't a put down, yeah it's a horrible thing that could happen to anyone, but you should never let it put you down! If I didn't have MS I wouldn't of met my angel, I wouldn't have quit smoking and I know I wouldn't have lost 7 stones (16 stone 4ish). Seeing a whole different meaning to life which I wouldn't have seen couple of years ago. I'm going on a bit now but I'm 26 years old now, I'm proud of my achievements, I still cant believe it but MS has helped me out and changed my life so much that I wouldn't change anything.
