A to Z of MS Respite
Respite services allow people with MS and the family members or carers who help to look after them to have a little time to themselves.
Respite care can be provided as short-term residential care in a residential home, in a holiday location or sometimes within the individual's own home.
The carers charities can help with information in respite care, although possibly not specifically for people with MS.
The MS Society has replaced the direct provision of respite care through its four centres with the Short Breaks and Activities Fund (SBA Fund). The fund gives grants to help people with MS and carers access short breaks and respite care. For more on the SBA fund, visit the MS Society website
